Faery Box... WIP by Artsy50 Faery Box... WIP by Artsy50
Here is my Faery jewel box... I haven't posted anything here in quite a while. I haven't felt particularly creative. ;P But here is something I have been working on, amongst a few others that I've started...

Thank  you to the lovely :icondazzle-stock: for the reference photo.  dazzle-stock.deviantart.com/ar…

This is a mixed media piece, Nestle instant coffee, and some acrylic paints on a wooden jewel box.

Thanks for any faves and kind comments. They are, as always, greatly appreciated! :D  :la:

Thanks! :D I did do one other coffee painting of a unicorn a while ago. It's in my gallery. ;) Coffee is quite an interesting medium to work with. Especially the instant kind.

Always!  How do you use it?  Yes, I remember that one.

Just add the instant coffee to some water, I used Nescafe but I guess any kind would do.  More water makes the lighter shades. Less makes the darker ones. The really dark shades end up being quite sticky to work with and are shiny when dry. You need to add a whole bunch of coats of clear spray varnish once dry if you want to add acrylics to your painting or the coffee with just blend with the paint and make a big mess. I must  have done at least a dozen coats of clear matt varnish spray, after letting the coffee dry over night. While painting with the coffee I used a fan between coats. Drys a bit faster that way. If painting on wood the coffee tends to bleed a bit. Not sure how to fix that yet. It works fine on heavy watercolor paper though. Let me see if you try it. :D

Huh, cool!  And haha I will, however unlikely it may be, but if I ever do then you'll be the second to know! :D
