In loving memory of my neighbor's beloved Golden Retriever, Molly. A sweet, friendly, beautiful dog who loved everyone. She may have barked a bit too much, but she was a good dog, and a good friend. She will be missed.

RIP Molly.
For my neighbor Lisa who struggled with the decision to have her friend put down yesterday. She's in a better place now Lisa.
8 x 10. Colored pencil on Canson paper. With a bit of Black and white Sharpie paint pen.
Thanks for your faves and comments.

I'm just wondering what kind of Canson paper do you use? I am a relatively new artist, and haven't used anything besides my sketchbook. Also where do you get it from?
And finally what kind of colored pencils do you use?
Sorry to be a bother! I just love your style.
The Canson paper I use is sold in single sheets in various colors. It's called..., and I'm just reading this on the sticker that's on the paper...Mi-Teintes, which I think means tinted or colored paper. It's made in France. It's a 98 lb. weight, acid free paper, and comes in different sizes I think. The one I use most is 8 1/2 inch by 11 inch, but I have bought it in a much bigger size. It's not too pricey either. I also use other Canson Mixed media paper that comes in sketchbook form, also 98 lb. weight, white.
As for the colored pencils I use, their are several brands. I use the regular Laurentien brand, and Laurentien Studio brand. Derwent, are good quality. Some are softer than others. The Derwent drawing pencils are quite soft and you can get them in a kit with several colors. I have some Prismacolor pencils but they tend to break quite a bit and it's really quite frustrating. My daughter tells me though that you can place them in the microwave for a few seconds to melt the leads together again. I haven't tried this yet though.
I get most of my supplies at Curry's Art Store, and some at De Serres Art store. But If you keep your eyes open you can come across some deals at liquidation places and Walmart will at least carry Laurentien brands. A little piece of advice, try not to drop your colored pencils or you will be cursing every time you try to sharpen them.
Hope that's helpful.
Thanks again! Really appreciate it.
On that slightly off topic note, do you know how to tag other deviants in the description of a piece of art? Thanks!
You can tag them by using their screen name. You would type, : iconBrandyrose: for your icon for instance, without the space between the first colon and the word icon.
Hope that's what you were looking for. I am so not internet savvy...
